July 5th Pioneer Lake Poker Run
We welcomed the Pioneer Lake Poker Run teams to our dock on July 5 and it was a huge success! Twenty-two mostly pontoon boats stopped at our pier, with about 137 people. We greeted them with smiles and cookies and water bottles and stamped their poker cards. Some even took a Bible and devotion booklets as well. In return, we received lots of thanks.
It was a windy and threatening morning, but the rain held off and everything ran smoothly. Jeff had set up a shelter and brought down the cookies and water bottles. He or Vicky got their feet wet to stabilize boats as their came in to our pier. Lawrence and Valerie Laabs held the boats against the pier as Valerie’s daughter Gretchen and her sons, John and Steven, stamped poker cards and passed out cookies. Donna maintained the count from up on the driveway and Dennis just stood around, smiling. A fun afternoon.
